50 is nice on ice

January 1, 2012 my best friend & mom turned 50 years old. About two weeks before her birthday my dad called me up and asked if I would help throw a surprise birthday part. Um YES of course! So I immediately started making up invitations so that I could get them all sent out. I remembered that in my mom's email inbox she had baby pictures and knew that I wanted to use them somehow and then I came up with this invitation:

I was so happy with how it turned out! After sending out the invitations Christmas came and then I was gone all week in California. I knew that anything else was going to have to be done when I got home on Saturday afternoon. Then her birthday came. She had no idea what was coming. She was expecting a little family get together at my parents house around 4pm. Well, my Nana pulled her out of church early and blindfolded her and brought her to the Karoake Cafe in Murray (owned by my Uncle Jarod).

My Mom's birthday cake... Diet Coke!! How awesome is that! Made by Martin (my dads really good friend who also made my gorgeous wedding cake)
My mom walking into the party, blindfold and all.
My favorite picture of the whole night. She was so surprised and SO so happy.
Thanks mom for being my best friend. Love you!!
 My mom and her parents.
We had a delicious lunch/dinner of my dad's famous broccoli cheese soup, breadsticks and salad. Delish! After some birthday cake the party really started with some Karaoke! This is my mom having a blast with all of her work friends:

And yes,  I even joined in on some Karaoke action and sang some T-Swift with my cousins.
After an amazing night we handed out some "Karimello" candy bars.
Thanks to everyone who came and those who helped you really made my mom's birthday a day to remember!

Happy 50th birthday Mom! Love you more than anything!
